"This is a good school with a distinctive ethos. It is a harmonious community which provides a welcoming and secure environment for its pupils. Adults offer good pastoral care and support and this is reflected in pupils’ good behaviour, excellent attendance and consistently good attitudes to learning. The school supports pupils’ personal development well. As a result, pupils say that they very much enjoy school and feel safe there. They have a good understanding of healthy lifestyles."

"The overall effectiveness of Pope Paul School is good. It has a strong Catholic ethos with dedicated leadership from the headteacher and acting deputy who are instrumental in effectively maintaining and developing the school’s Catholic identity. Relationships and respect between all staff and pupils are very good and demonstrate the school’s very caring community. One pupil explained “All the teachers care about us and you always learn something”. Worship and prayer are central in the school’s life. Pupils’ moral and social development is good and this is reflected in their behaviour and attitudes. Pupils are proud of their school and feel valued, respected and listened to. The school is committed to continuing to raise the profile of religious education. Pupils make good progress in religious education throughout their school life."

How to find out if the school is closed due to adverse weather conditions.
If we have to close the school, parents will be informed in the following ways:
- We will Parentmail parents as early as possible (please remember not to reply to the text!)
- Parents should access www.hertsdirect.org and follow the link for school closures (this is a new information system). We send a text to HCC and this site is automatically updated with my message.)
- The school’s answer machine will be updated to give up-to-date information (please do not leave a message)
- Listen out for bulletins on:
- BBC Three Counties Radio (103.8FN or 630MW/1161MW)
- Chiltern Radio (97.6FM or 828AM)
- Mercury FM (96.6FM).
We have been assured that our text message also automatically updates the radio stations, but it will be up to the radio stations how they give out the information, so you may need to check the websites too:
